3/26/2012 Reading: Volunteer Management Capacity Study Series
The reading "Volunteer Management Capacity Study Series" ring the bell in my mind how important it is to get right people for right charities or volunteers. I very much agree with the idea that "Charity adopts a particular management practice depends on its specific needs and characteristics. Not all practices can or should be adopted by all charities." Volunteering should not be forced or recommended with certain degree of peer pressure. It should be done by one's own will and person who does it have to be earn happiness in the process. Therefore, finding interest group is critical in a long run. In addition, people should not only help other but also help their self and earn proudness by volunteering. Professional recruitment and retention does not work. Therefore, organization should provide easy to join and welcoming environments for the people to join. Trying not to give them pressure to people before they even think to volunteering, and avoid word "Volunteering." Put people in position that they enjoy doing. Also, giving people recognition about what they do, and give them complements to feel proud of what they doing.
