4/30/ 2012 LAST DAY of Class
Last two weeks I been working on community out reach. I made two video about Thai restaurant call " Orchid " thai cuisine. I made one clips with introduction of restaurant and couple menu. Also, I met up with the restaurant's owner and filmed her telling story and her message to the Rollins college. It was very difficult to hold of owner because she was not in the restaurant very often. When I finally met up with the owner, she was very corporate-table. Since it was new attempt for the CMC both teachers and students, CMC350 was difficult through out the year, but I think that every did great job putting thing together for first time. It was bit easier, one of the staff member knew owner.

4/23/12 College media and convergence
"At many university, student media has become a testing ground for convergence, with varying levels of success. Often, the success of those efforts is tied directly to the students' level of "buy in." Students need to have clear understanding of difference between professional journalism and college level of journalism. Students who were exposed to convergence were more positive in their ratings of the benefits of convergence, although no differences were found between the groups when assessing the drawbacks of convergence. These findings have some value, in that it is clear that students are capable of finding value in this approach to journalism but have not been blinded to some of its negative ramifications.
4/23/12 Victoria's Network
Vitoria's Network is great example of modern day community that share ideas with different people and creating synergy. Informations are traveling and shared extremely fast since the invention of internet. However, people did not know how to share information efficiently. Internet network like Victoria's network can allow people to share information not only locally but also globally. VICNET was developed as means of "Empowering Victorians to create an electronic form online communities both locally and globally." Rollins college is small community, yet it is having hard time forming well connected community. Campus media is one of the most effective organization to bring Rollins community. Rollins students are good at involving, but they are having hard time sharing and receiving news around the campus. Therefore, campus media should connect students body with providing with informations around campus. (Personal opinion: I personally love working for campus media. However, I feel a lot a limitation of time. I think Rollins should come up with department that only doing and focusing on campus media. It was very difficult to work for R-TV with all my other classes and works. I wish I had more time for R-TV.

April 9th Reading: Community Outreach Strategies for Media (7 Ways to Take Your Media Brand to the Streets)
Sponsor a Community Event: Rollins media should film any kind of event that is going on around Rollins college. Events like that is provide to advertise Winter Park and Rollins college. However, campus media should not expect to get a lot of money out of it. Campus media should volunteer and film events for the good cause. Working with a charity and other organization is another way to get involve in community engagement. Reaching local business and being a partner can be one of the greatest way to reach out to community. It is good for the local business and campus media, it can create synergy.

Downtown Community Television: cultural politics and technological form
DCTV is a great example of how media organization should be. The way they train their people in order to reach well organized and long run media organization. DCTV trained ten's of thousand people. DCTV is the most democratic and individual media that can provide true information to the people. DCTV is a organization where everyone can come and join. Also, they don't have to worry about being influence by financial threat and media censorship herefore, they can come up with uninfluenced information for the public. It is great tool to teach public that media can be created by anyone and media is own my public and for public. Media does not necessarily have to run by mega corporations, and it is something that anyone can be part of.

3/26/2012 Reading: Volunteer Management Capacity Study Series
The reading "Volunteer Management Capacity Study Series" ring the bell in my mind how important it is to get right people for right charities or volunteers. I very much agree with the idea that "Charity adopts a particular management practice depends on its specific needs and characteristics. Not all practices can or should be adopted by all charities." Volunteering should not be forced or recommended with certain degree of peer pressure. It should be done by one's own will and person who does it have to be earn happiness in the process. Therefore, finding interest group is critical in a long run. In addition, people should not only help other but also help their self and earn proudness by volunteering. Professional recruitment and retention does not work. Therefore, organization should provide easy to join and welcoming environments for the people to join. Trying not to give them pressure to people before they even think to volunteering, and avoid word "Volunteering." Put people in position that they enjoy doing. Also, giving people recognition about what they do, and give them complements to feel proud of what they doing.

What I been doing so far...3/19/2012
I been filmed Rollins athletes and their profile, and visited local businesses and hand them out R-TV's under writing packet as what I did for campus out reach. I am going to visit some automobile dealerships and do their review and hopefully one of them provide some benefits for Rollins students. Planing on keep filming many athletes as possible, and I am also trying to film some clips for R-TV to air it for the future.
On March 23rd, R-TV staff members are going to go to Alumni weekend at 11:30am and film the event. Asking them questions like:( what was your best experience in Rollins ?) and station ID.

Weekly reading 3/12/2012 Winter 2009
I totally agree with " inherent within all human beings is a desire to avoid expressing opinions that run counter to prevailing attitudes or counter to the opinions of people who matter to them." I also understand that student should be able to publish without limitation and censorship under the circumstances of proper process of production. However, in campus media, student should have certain mind set and direction of what kind of informations are going to be in campus media. Even in campus media, media is a field where it needs serious consideration on reviewing the materials before they are published. Students are still learning and even though a high level of experienced publisher need peers to review. Therefore, reasonable amount of influence and literature review. Also, there are a lot of concerns and problems are raising on how it's not professional enough and disorganized. In my opinion, for most college and university there are not enough support and demand for the campus media. In terms of consumers, there are not enough of them. For that reason, students are busy with school and when they do consume media, campus media is certainly not the first choice of selection. There are countless amount of media such as internet, and all the other mega corporations. However, there is a possibility for the better future. It is very difficult to make students to demand the campus media with similar information as other mega media. It simply can't compete with other media. What can campus media could do is that strongly focusing on school, and students. Such as providing interest only students would care and need. Campus media should take place to enhance student's life in terms of Academic life. That way students can be persuade to demand campus media because no other media is only focussing for their school and their sake.

Weekly blog: What was plan, What I have done so far, What is necessary , Plan for the future
My plan was to let people know R-TV still exists, and inform them where to find R-TV. Also, recruit students for R-TV. Creating page in social media (Facebook).Posting posters around the school which contains information about R-TV, and recruitment. Creating underwriting kit for the R-TV to learn some funding and coming up with short reviewing program for the local business. Visit them and ask for their approval for the introducing them in R-TV. It doesn't have to be making deal at the first time. After the approval of restaurants, R-TV is going to do their review program for free. And show them our review program to them, and ask them to become sponsor, if they are satisfy with our programs. It doesn't always have to be direct financial help. It could be any beneficial support for R-TV, such as discount coupons.
So far, I've done posting poster around the school, visiting local businesses with underwriting kit.
Thai Thai Five, Winter Park Pizza, Briarpatch, Sweet Tradition Frech Bakery & Cafe, Circa, Brandywine's Deli, Wrap Planet. Some people in local business were very welcoming, and took me serious. However, some of them weren't, but it's all good.
Recruited a student who wants to be involve in a making program and acting. Filmed introduction of student athletes.

What I really need is to commit to my job and make time for it.
You’re Fired! A Study of the Best Practices for Evaluating the Job Performance of Student Media Staff Members
I very much agree with reading talking about how small universities are not using student policy staff manuals compared to the larger universities. also, students should take campus media more seriously, as if it was their real paying job. It is great experience and practice for when they get their real job after graduation. Further more, campus media should make a effort of creating serious and formal environment to the students. That is something both advisors and student should work together. Being serious and formal doesn't have to be creating fear of firing and yelling at each other. Campus media staffs can work on creating better structural staff manual and respecting work environment. Some of punishments and warnings are necessary in order to keep students focused. However, campus media and its staff should be welcoming and friendly all the time. It is not a good idea to only control students with fear. The most important thing in campus media would be the communicating each other and coming up with idea through both individual and group.

R-TV business administration process in 2/12/2012 so far....
I think this is a good set of ideas...what I'd like to see are some specifics, and preferably a schedule, so we (you and I) know where you are in the process, especially in terms of what's feasible and possible within the constraints of a semester. For instance, which restaurants? Who will produce the reviews? Will you go eat there with a writer from the Sandspur that can write reviews, as well?
Who will design posters? Where will you put them? Etc.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Creating underwrite kit for R-TV
Plan to get a advertisements or donation for R-TV : Visit much restaurants and local business as possible ( with in walking distance from Campus mostly ) Kindly introduce R-TV and underwrite kit with respect.
Shooting crew would be : Tae Lim and Tomas ( with writer from Sandspur, if its possible.)
mostly visit restaurants and film someone eating or introduce restaurants.
Create a poster to inform and let students know about R-TV ( making poster will be ask to all the people in R-TV )
Posting poster almost every where: Campus center, rest rooms, dorms, etc.
I think the biggest challenge is to persuade local business that R-TV is effective, and has many viewers.
I like to inform them how serious R-TV by approaching respectfully, such as dress formal when we visit them, and bring most filming materials as possible, so they don't feel like, we are not just students who is playing around.
Who will design posters? Where will you put them? Etc.

Weekly reading {Spring 2007: Pearson, 1 Newspaper, 3 Students: A simple plan for recruiting, training and retaining.}
In the Pearson reading, first of all I was so surprised how the condition and situation of small university journalism is so true. And how identical Rollins journalism is as Pearson describe about the condition of journalism. Such as smaller university is located in basement or poor area of the building, and poor working environments. I also highly agree with three skills revitalize struggling program. Recruiting is one of the most critical step for the campus media because not that many people are eggier to involve, and most people don't know how to join or where to start. It is campus media group's job to find people and introduce our self to the public. Training and retaining skills would be must requirements to have in order to keep going, and for the long run. Each departments of campus media need to train their new members about how to run a campus media, so they can pass it down to next generation of campus media. I also, agree with creating fun and creative work atmosphere. Campus media should be a serious group, but it doesn't mean we have to be harsh and mean to other new students. Advisor and people who came first, should comfortably interact with newer student and create family like relationship. Also, having much communications, and meeting as possible would be the most important thing. Students often lose their interest and passion after awhile. Therefore, people need to meet and have a discussion on how to move forward and enhance quality of campus media. Also, involving much campus affairs as possible. When ever there are event or party in Rollins campus, campus media should try to help to let people know campus media is working hard and it's existence. Bringing up the image and value of campus media is one of the most critical job so that people can't take campus media lightly. And always open our door to every students, and provide welcoming environment.
Business Plan for R-TV through out the year (Individual Plan)
In the CMC 350N class I learned a lot about media for community engagement already. And I like to know more about it. I was very excited when I was involve with business administration for R-TV. Also, I was informed that campus media is slowly dying especially for the R-TV. In my opinion, my job is to come up with business plan that enhance both quality and workability of R-TV. Here are some of my first few business ideas. First, I like to let people know R-TV still exists, and inform them where to find R-TV. During the class discussion, even people in the CMC class didn't know how and where to look for R-TV. For the publicity of R-TV, R-TV need to create a page on social media, such as (facebook or twitter) and post posters around the school where student can see it. Personally, letting people know about the R-TV is the most critical thing in order to move up to next business plan. Secondly, I like to visit restaurants around school with in walking distance. Visit them and ask for their approval for the introducing them in R-TV. This program will not ask for any type of financial or material help. After the approval of restaurants, R-TV is going to do their review program for free. And show them our review program to them, and ask them to become sponsor, if they are satisfy with our programs. It doesn't always have to be direct financial help, it could be any beneficial help for R-TV, such as discount coupons. Thirdly, create a program which anyone who wants to use R-TV programing time for them. The idea is to charge money to people who ever want to make a announcements, confession, or ask for dating through R-TV.
